Procedure: most of the heart tumors are not malign and not expected to spread. However, surgery may be needed to relieve the symptoms by removing tumor partially or completely. The operation can be performed either as an open-heart surgery or robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery. In open-heart procedures, the surgeon long incision to see the heart directly. After removing the tumor, a reconstruction maybe needed on heart valves.
Recovery time: recovery period after releasing from hospital is based on general health condition, age and the operation type that the patient had. While most of the patients with open-heart procedure is expected to recover within 6-8 weeks, this period is shorter for patients who had the operation with less invasive methods (robotic).
