Procedure: for surgical treatment of lung cancer, there are several options which include removal of the lung partially or entirely. If only cancerous tissue and healthy tissues surrounding the tumor is removed, this operation is called wedge resection. In a segmental resection, a wider area of the lung is removed. If a lobe is removed for treatment it is called lobectomy, while the operation for removal of an entire lung is called pneumonectomy.
Recovery time: after the operation, many patients need several weeks for recovery. It’s common to feel tired up to 6-8 weeks. You may feel pain in your chest for 3 months following your operation.
